The new Emmaüs community center in Toulouse opens its doors on Friday July 1
The Emmaüs community already established in Saint-Jory moved to the Château de Ginestous in Toulouse. On this Sesquières site, a large sales, depot and repair center opens its doors on Friday 1 July.
A new and wonderful adventure awaits the Emmaüs de Haute-Garonne community and the many citizens who frequent it.
Friday, July 1, the new community center opens its doors at 4 chemin de la Glacière, in the Sesquières sector in Toulouse. On one side, the thirty companions of the former community of Saint-Jory, housed in a restored castle and in new individual accommodation. On the other, a huge hangar which tomorrow will house a sales center, a place of deposit, storage and repair.
The story goes back a little over two years. Tenant in the center of Saint-Jory, Emmaüs is looking for a more practical place that belongs to it. Around the same time, the Château de Ginestous was put up for sale. The building of 17th century, located in the heart of the Sesquières business park and well hidden by the dense vegetation of its 4-hectare park, is in poor condition.
Emmaüs acquires it, the Fondation de France supports it to the tune of 300,000 euros and an integration project management agreement allows it to balance the budget.
For two years, a dozen craftsmen from the region worked to restore his superb castle and transformed it into living spaces: 19 accommodations for couples or families.
At the same time, new and individual accommodation is compliant, which completes the accommodation for the thirty companions of Saint-Jory.
Adjoining the castle, a huge hangar has therefore also emerged. It is he who opens his doors to the public tomorrow Friday, July 1 at 1:30 p.m. (8 a.m. for deposits). 980 m² dedicated to buyers and defenders of second-hand objects, in a protected natural area although accessible to all because it is perfectly served by public transport: the new site Emmaus of Haute-Garonne fulfill all its objectives of solidarity, sharing and respect for the environment.
