The funds come from the European Peace Facility, a fund managed by member states outside the European budget, the European Council, the court of EU member states, said in a statement.

European aid does not involve weapons, the statement said.

The financing will allow the provision of equipment, goods and services to strengthen logistical capacities and mobility of units of the armed forces of the Republic of Moldova. It will also help them fight cyber attacks and strengthen their capabilities for unmanned air reconnaissance and tactical communications.

The Republic of Moldova has already benefited from seven million euros in funding from the European Peace Facility in December 2021, for its military health service and for a battle of genius.

The European Peace Facility was set up in March 2021.
