The city of Zurich goes into the neighborhoods with a mobile recycling center

The city of Zurich will be testing mobile recycling centers in four districts from July: This is intended to appeal in particular to people who do not have a car.

In the second half of 2022, Entsorgung + Recycling Zürich (ERZ) will be available with collection vehicles at four locations in Affoltern, Leimbach, Witikon and Outside on different days and at different times, according to a statement dated Thursday, June 30, 2022.

At these mobile recycling centers, waste can be disposed of free of charge, as is the case with the disposal streams – from bulky goods and metal to tetra paks and styrofoam. Only items with a maximum length of two and a half meters or a maximum weight of 40 kilograms will be accepted.

The delivery with cars or vans is prohibited, as the message further shows. However, ERZ provides hand trucks for transport to the recycling center. Cargo bikes are also available in Leimbach and Aussersihl.

An exchange option is also offered

ERZ also set up an open exchange place at the mobile recycling centers. There, items that are no longer needed but still intact can be transferred to a new owner free of charge.

This exchange option has already been tested with the disposal trams and has proven to be extremely popular. “It is a simple measure to avoid waste.”
