Radisson opens its second Premium Lifestyle category hotel in Bilbao in Spain
Bilbao is the city chosen by the hotel company Radisson Hotel Group to open its second accommodation with the Radisson Collection seal in Spain. And, for this reason, last Wednesday, June 22, an opening event took place in which guests could discover for themselves the experience offered by the new Radisson Collection Hotel, Gran Vía
Gastronomy plays an important role in all Radisson Collection brand hotels. Thus, on the roof of the building is located NKO, the restaurant that advises chef Eneko Atxa (five Michelin stars). This maintains a close collaboration with the Radisson Hotel Group with operating restaurants in its Radisson Collection hotels in Seville and Brussels and, soon, also in the new Radisson RED in Madrid. NKO is a project that brings together two important gastronomic cultures: the Basque, which is the original of Eneko Atxa, and the Japanese, cuisine that Atxa has loved for more than 15 years when he traveled to Japan for the first time and discovered the gastronomic cultural richness of the country.
Among the star dishes of NKO are the oyster and Joselito Nigiris and those of Gamba and txistorra, the Prawn tempura and in the Robata section, the Parpatana of red tuna. Likewise, on the menu there is a selection of different types of ramen that combine local ingredients with Japanese techniques, as is the case of the Ramen from Bizkaia, pork and pak choi. Of course, in the dessert section, there are also those nods to both cultures, as is the case with the essential Nippon French toast or Kaigori.
Radisson Hotel Group offers different elements designed to ensure guest comfort, such as the pillow menu –to adapt rest to any preference–, high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, the “late check out” service, the soundproof windows, the breakfasts for early risers, the late breakfasts –or in the room–, the Nespresso coffee machines or the express laundry and ironing service.
Of course, there is also no lack of services such as the concierge with 24-hour attention for when they are required and assistance with reservations to enjoy what the city of Bilbao has to offer. in terms of cultural agenda, tourist visits or gastronomic experiences. In addition, the Radisson Collection Hotel, Gran Vía Bilbao is fully equipped to hold business meetings in its private spaces.
With the health and safety of guests and staff members as top priority, Radisson Collection Hotel, Gran Vía Bilbao implements the Radisson Hotels security protocol program. The deep cleaning and disinfection protocols were developed in collaboration with SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, designed to ensure the safety and peace of mind of guests from check-in to check-out within the protocol that marks the WTTC Safe Travels seal.
interior design project
The interior design project for the new Radisson Collection Hotel, Gran Vía Bilbao is signed by the dAAr architecture studio. The building in which the hotel is located was originally built as the headquarters of Banco Hispano Americano in 1945 by the architect Manuel Galíndez in a neoclassical style. It is because of that, wanting to break with its exterior, the project takes as its starting point the “Art Deco” style that tries to represent some abstractions that are shown in nature such as radiant light rays and aquatic fluids.
The idea of the project is therefore based on a “renovated Art Deco with Japanese touches” that is implanted in a big city, Bilbao, which has evolved at an urban, architectural and tourist level in the last 50 years at a dizzying pace, making it one of the main attractions among travelers.
It was also wanted to provide all the hotel spaces with a very careful and worked light, with theatrical effects and even with the possibility of providing the same space with different light scenes. Mainly noble materials such as walnut wood and marble (mostly of local origin) have been used, which combined with small brushstrokes of brass give each space light, uniqueness and exclusivity.
