Fatal accident with delivery van and truck on E313 in the direction of Antwerp in Ranst: highway completely blocked | ranst
“The accident happened around 9.45 am,” says Peter Bruyninckx of the Flemish Traffic Center. “It concerns an accident in which a van rammed into a truck. At that time there were already waves of traffic jams in traffic, the accident could happen. The road is currently completely blocked and emergency services are working to free the occupants of the van.”
Initially, the message came in that the driver of the van would be trapped and in life-threatening condition. Meanwhile, the traffic police filmed that he died. “The road police suspect the circumstances that it will be a long-term incident. We therefore want to urge all drivers to avoid the E313 at Ranst. If you don’t, you risk getting stuck in a long traffic jam.”
According to the road police, the public prosecutor’s office is already aware of the situation and experts will be on site to investigate. To ensure that work runs smoothly, the highway near the Massenhoven exit has been completely closed. “Everyone has to leave the highway there and then detour via the N14 in the direction of Zoersel. From future you can take the E34 to drive to Antwerp.” Traffic from Hasselt to Ghent is best served via Brussels. From Hasselt to Antwerp it is best to take the E19.
The file behind the accident is more than 9 kilometers long at the time of writing. So says Bruyninckx. “These drivers are annoyingly ‘locked up’ and best get ready to stand there for a while.”
