Fabio Spiteri’s 1,300km Trek for Abandoned Animals inspires Malta
A Maltese man has taken on an absolutely ridiculous challenge to raise money for animal shelters around Malta – and is inspiring the island.
At rising temperatures, Fabio owns an absolutely brutal 1,130km triathlon challenge in Sicily to raise € 100,000 to be distributed among animal shelters in Malta – and people are noticing.
1. Animal Commissioner Alison Bezzina shared images of the Maltese father, recounting the physical pain his body is going through to raise money for charity.
“Fabio Spiteri has been awake, swimming and driving incredible distances for more than 55 hours. The pain, the pain! He may be putting on a brave face but there is no muscle in his body that is not shining at the moment, “said Bezzina, sharing images of his Maltese father while fighting in Sicily.
2. Sports Minister Clifton Grima praised the athlete, where she shared an image of the man along with a caption leading up to the challenge, as well as the bicep emoji in reference to Fabio’s inhuman resilience.
3. And Malta’s own inspirational athlete, Neil Agius, noted how mad Fabio’s challenge was – big words, considering that Agius himself broke a world record of his own endurance.
Prior to the challenge, Fabio said: “I have two passions in life – sports and animals. Once again this year I want to raise funds for every animal shelter and cat feeders around Malta and Gozo. As it is a big brutal race where I want to go really deep into my inner reserves, I am aiming for € 100,000 to be distributed in all the shelters, considering the big problems they face every day especially now that they are full. ”
