Baker McKenzie promotes Stefan Balazs as a partner in Sweden | Newsroom
Stockholm-based lawyer Stefan Balazs has been promoted to partner at Baker McKenzie and will take up his new position on 1 July 2022.
Stefan Balazs is a member of Baker McKenzie’s Capital Markets Practice Group at the Stockholm office and specializes in prospectuses and market abuse legislation. He has extensive experience of transactions from representing both companies and investment banks in IPOs, rights issues and private placements. Stefan has specialist expertise in regulatory issues related to capital markets and is the only Nordic representative of the advisory working group within the Corporate Finance Standing Committee at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
Anders Fast, Managing Partner at Baker McKenzie Stockholm, had this to say about Stefan:
– Stefan Balazs has been a positive force behind the latest development at the Stockholm office and the leading market position for our Capital Markets group. With his strong drive and extensive skills, he has become indispensable in the office and appreciated by both customers and colleagues. We have seen great growth in Stockholm in recent years and this campaign is part of our strategy to continuously strengthen our offering in our focus areas.
Stefan Balazs graduated in law from Stockholm University in 2011 and has also completed several courses in business administration. He has worked at Baker McKenzie since 2015 and has previously worked as a legal advisor at Finansinspektionen. Stefan has been a member of the Swedish Bar Association since 2021.
Stefan made the following comments about his promotion:
– Over the past 10 years, it has been very inspiring to see the dynamics and many faces in the capital markets from both the regulatory side and the advisory side. To be able to use that experience and continue to develop in my professional passion, when the capital markets become more international and face constant changes and challenges, is of course very gratifying. It feels like a natural and exciting step to take greater responsibility for the internship group, the office and the agency in my new role as a partner.
Baker McKenzie in Stockholm continues to note strong growth and is expected to show record figures for the financial year ending June 30, 2022, as Anders Fast states:
– We strive to recruit, retain and develop the best talent and it gives me great pleasure to see our employees grow professionally. Stefan will be a good addition to the partnership and will contribute to our continued growth.
