Switzerland emerges as the main destination for these financial transactions, with residents in Portugal having transferred 2.2 billion euros to this country.
Around €6.7 billion were transferred to at sea in 2021, below the value recorded in the previous year, with the money going to Switzerland and Hong Kong as main destinations.

According to this data, to which Lusa had access and which are released this Thursday on the Finance Portal, the value of transfers carried out in 2021 totaled 6,698,118,054 euros, which translated into an increase of 3.21% or of minus 222.17 million euros compared to the amount reported in 2020.
Despite the decline in the overall amount, the number of operations increased by 5.53% for 2020, totaling 105,519 (5,532 more).

Ukraine was, in turn, the destination of transfers worth €49.9 million from residents and around €5.6 million from non-residents.
