Want a scene or a change of life? Based in Toulouse, PassPassion puts you in touch with artisans
Steps for individuals to discover craftsmanship for their pleasure and perhaps take the plunge to completely change jobs. Born at the end of 2020, the Toulouse company Passion wants to create bridges between the world of craftsmanship and individuals eager to acquire a new experience. In one year, it has designed a catalog of 30 trades for 50 completed steps, accessible via an Internet platform. The cost: between 700 and 1,000 euros depending on the formula.
“It’s a kind of Airbnb of internships that allows you to discover a craft universe for your leisure and provides additional income to artisans, boasts Jean Muller, founder of PassPassion. We started with the stages and then this year, we were certified for professional training. For example, a trainee at a bakery will learn to bake bread but a candidate who is training as a baker will acquire additional skills to manage his business, to be an entrepreneur. And with the Covid, it is a need since many people decide to retrain ”.
The stages take place with artisans from Occitania and New Aquitaine. But the Toulouse start-up has been offering experiences in PACA, Normandy and Brittany since this year. The trainees come from all over France to feed on the know-how of the baker, the blacksmith, the shepherd, the stylist or even the motorcycle mechanic.
Requests multiplied by ten
In six months, the demand for stages has increased tenfold. “The most requested stages are those with the cabinetmaker, the winemaker and the baker. We see that it dresses in the thirties while we were aiming for 40/50 years, explains Jean Muller. We select the craftsmen according to the quality of their work, their ability to transmit knowledge and the place of their workshop which must be beautiful because the trainees often take time off to get there. We even have an internship with a clog maker in the Bethmale valley, in Ariège, but we haven’t had a candidate yet”.
Building on the success of their concept, Passpassion launched a fundraiser of 200,000 euros in order to develop its catalog of scenes and partner craftsmen.
