Vaucluse. Expo Amazonia in Avignon: what you need to know
Amazon , presented until November 30 in the Grande Chapelle of the Palais des Papes, has been visible since June 27. Sebastião Salgado, Franco-Brazilian photographer, was in Avignon for the opening of this magnificent and instructive exhibition orchestrated by his wife Lélia, curator and scenographer (read our edition of June 28). An exhibition that plunges us into the heart of “this Amazonian paradise. With all the information it gives, we can raise people’s awareness to act together, because the Amazon is defeated by our consumer societies,” the photographer pointed out on Monday. 205 XXL black and white photographs, 1 musical score by Jean-Michel Jarre of 50 minutes, ocas, videos, slideshows… “It is the result of 48 trips to the Brazilian Amazon, seven years of continuous work” summed up Sebastião Salgado.

Free visit or guided tours every Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. To extend the experience, the book Amazon published by Taschen, 528 pages, on sale for €100, in the shops of the Palais and the Tourist Office.
