TRANSELECTRICA: The first trade exchanges of electricity with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova will take place on June 30 – 06.26.2022
Transport and System Operators (TSOs) in Continental Europe confirmed that the preliminary technical conditions have been met to allow trade in electricity between Ukraine and neighboring states. This process aims at the successful synchronization of power systems, carried out on March 16, 2022, and the acceptance of Ukrenergo as an observer member of ENTSO-E, on April 26, 2022. These achievements were necessary following intense efforts by all TSOs. . in Europe, in particular Ukrenergo and operators in neighboring countries.
Trade in electricity with Ukraine / Republic of Moldova is scheduled to begin on June 30, 2022 on the interconnection between Ukraine and Romania. The sale of electricity on the other interconnections (Ukraine-Slovakia, Ukraine-Hungary and Moldova-Romania) will follow subsequent aspects, after their finalization related to the tender rules. The total commercial capacity will be limited in the first phase to 100 MW, and after this initial stage, the marketed values are expected to increase gradually, following a monthly assessment of the impact of the changed volume on the stability and security of the energy system.
This achievement provides additional step, achieved less than four months after the emergency synchronization of the systems of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova with the European network and, in addition, demonstrates the strong commitment of transport operators and European system to Ukrenergo (Transport Operator and Republic of Moldova).
