Three years after his arrival, Louis Boquien, the commander of the Toulouse Saint-Michel gendarmerie company, leaves
In Toulouse since 2019, Commander Louis Boquien, boss of the third most active gendarmerie company in France, joined the War School at the start of the school year. Before leaving for Paris, he looks back on his three very active years.
“Since 2019, I have experienced a lot,” said the commander of the Toulouse Saint-Michel company, Louis Boquien. This gendarmerie officer remained three years at the head of the third largest company in France. “There are nearly 35 interventions per day and about twenty investigations”, underlines the squadron leader.
In other words, the 225 soldiers under his command are not idle. Among this constant flow, several cases marked his mandate in Haute-Garonne. Starting with the collapse of the Mirepoix-sur-Tarn bridge on November 18, 2019. “I have a thought for the victims, in particular for the little girl and her family”, confides the 38-year-old officer.
“I have worked with very successful people”
His men were also confronted with numerous crimes and misdemeanors, nearly 10,000 per year. The last highlight concerns the municipality of Bessières, on June 22. That day, the suspect killed a 40-year-old man with a headshot. A drama that also recalls that of Gratentour; occurred on May 4. A couple’s argument following which a woman had been fatally injured by a gunshot. “Violence against women has become a priority for us. To fight against this scourge, we have set up referents for domestic violence”, recalls the man who joined the Ecole de guerre in Paris next year.
The other priority was the fight against drug trafficking. Again, his units have taken hundreds of cases to court. “I was lucky enough to be able to rely on very efficient people. Here in the company but also in the research brigade and in the communities of brigades”, underlines this Parisian. “I leave the post with a little fatigue but a lot of experience. I also thank the mayors of the municipalities”.
