the new CHPG program to help young people in difficulty
A dozen young people are part of the program, to learn how to reduce their aggressiveness towards others or towards themselves.
Boxing as a remedy for the psychological ills of adolescents. Since March, the CHPG has been testing an experimental device, with the support of CFM Indosuez, as part of its philanthropic program. The principle ? Help young people in ill-being through boxing. Or rather, to “psychoboxing”.
Young people aged 13 to 21 with behavioral problems (aggressiveness or violence towards others or themselves) can take part. For now, a dozen teenagers are enrolled. They then go to the CHPG or to a dedicated room at the Yacht Club, put on the gloves and choose the professional with whom they wish to “psychobox”. ” We explain the rules during the first minute, we agree on the intensity of the strike. It’s not educational boxing, we’re not here to hurt each other “, specifies Julia Minot, psychologist, on Monaco info.
Since March, the CHPG has already organized around thirty sessions. And for the moment, the results seem satisfactory, as explained by Valérie Aubin, head of the psychiatry department: ” This self-aggressiveness can be well analyzed and improved by psychoboxing sessions.. (…) We are not in the violence of psychopaths, but in anger and very impulsive emotion. »
A young participant also agreed to testify to Monaco Info, with a hidden face: “ I had a big problem with violence, to show others my anger, to show that I could be worried and aggressive. I think psychoboxing helped a lot. »
On the strength of this first recommended result, the teenage team of the CHPG psychiatry department could make the project permanent.
