La marseillaise à pétanque 2022, 61st edition of the world
The program is dense: 220 meetings concentrated over 3 days and 2 festive evenings. The ecological municipality has pulled out all the stops for the first edition of this festival dedicated to water. By relying in particular on the inhabitants, sports and cultural actors, this event has a triple ambition: to discover, celebrate and protect the waterways.
The legend of Machecroute will be revisited as soon as the festivities begin. It was the artist and architect Jacques Rival who made the mythical dragon of the Guillotière bridge appear on the Rhône. The creature rooted in Lyon folklore and whose anger caused the floods of 1840 and 1856 will appear as a mischievous creature, monumental and inviting to gathering and joy. Made of recyclable materials, it will be backlit as soon as night falls.
On Saturday, July 2, the parade of 9 colors will leave from the Place des Terreaux to go to the Guillotière bridge. The social centers, the MJC and the popular education associations of the city will parade with the inhabitants in the colors of their district. Stilt walkers from the Cirqu’envie company and batucadas Les Mauvaises grains and Zurbamateurs will accompany this gathering which will end with a show at the foot of the Guillotière bridge.
Another highlight, on July 1 and 2, the Ilotopie company will transform the Saône into a real stage. Specializing in shows on the water, the artists will offer a poetic parade called DéRIVES in which a small crystal people will sparkle. Mystery !
Finally, two guinguettes installed on the Île Barbe side and between the Wilson bridge and the Guillotière bridge will welcome bartenders in the evening. Beyond these major meetings, a multitude of events will punctuate these 3 days dedicated to water, the rivers and rivers of Lyon.
Two documentaries by the sponsor of this 1st edition, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, will be screened.
