Slovenia will negotiate more than 300 million from the modernization fund

With today’s agreement of environmental ministers on the Fit for 55 legislative package, Slovenia will become a beneficiary of a modernization fund, an EU instrument to support the green recovery in Europe. Negotiations with the European Parliament will follow, led by the incoming Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.

At a recent meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Minister Robert Golob emphasized the great importance of Slovenia’s eligibility for funds for the modernization of energy systems. “Green transition is one of the key priorities of our government, so the agreement on the Fit for 55 legislative package is an important, if not an essential milestone in tackling climate and energy challenges.”

Ensuring energy security in Europe was also discussed at the recent European Council, where Prime Minister Golob and his Benelux counterparts called for closer coordination of energy supply between Member States.
