The Secretary of State for the Territory and the Environment, Stefano Canti attended the World urban forum (11th session) in Katowice (Poland), accompanied by Ambassador Dario Galassi, and participated in the ministerial round table in which the the importance of implementing the Urban Agenda on Sustainable Development to have more resilient and accessible cities.
“Governments must support the transformation processes of cities, increase funds to achieve the objectives of the 2030 Agenda while also attracting private funding – declared the secretariat of state for the territory and the environment -. In fact, private investments must be encouraged to carry out projects of social interest. Climate change places cities, problems and risks in serious difficulty. Cities need to be made safer, more resilient and sustainable. All countries are implementing the actions of the Urban Agenda, with concrete initiatives capable of improving the quality of life of the inhabitants. At the center of all urban policies are citizens and their well-being ”.
And again: “There was talk of sustainable mobility, for cities in more accessible and safe places, and of the importance of encouraging slow and safe pedestrians. Social justice is at the heart of all urban policies, the new generations must be able to find sustainable living conditions that reflect their expectations and implement sustainable urban policies in line with the Urban Agenda, which generate benefits for city dwellers. National reports are important to monitor progress and direct policies aimed at economic, cultural, environmental and social sustainability “.
Urban regeneration “is strategic” and also the Secretariat of State for the Territory and the Environment “is working in this sense on the issues in question, with particular reference to territorial planning through the new regulatory plan, which must include infrastructural works and strategies and the projects identified in the national strategy plan for achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda “.
Stefano Canti (Secretary of State for the Territory, the Environment,
Agriculture, Civil Protection and Relations with Aaslp) he affirms: “The Republic of San Marino is also working on these issues and precisely with reference to sustainable mobility, in these days the ASLP has completed the construction work of the cycle path connecting the Ausa Park and Laiala Park. A path created among nature that allows you to connect, in total safety for cyclists and pedestrians, due to important urban parks. The goal remains that of arriving at the 83rd UNECE Conference in October with the innovative territorial urban planning tool that gives answers to the themes of sustainable development of the 2030 Agenda ”.
