According to the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, the Lavochkin NPO has already begun work on a flight module for the Russian Martian mission. “NGO Lavochkin has already started on fundamental matters, without even waiting for July 15, because, frankly, I strongly doubt that in the current situation the European Union will go to a joint June in 2024”Rogozin said.
On July 15, the European Space Agency will give Roscosmos a quick answer about the delivery of the ExoMars joint mission in 2024, but the CEO of the state corporation found no illusions about this. “In this case, we are going to the national, there is no doubt about that”he added.
Dmitry Rogozin specified that the flight module of the Martian mission will be analogous to the fact that in 2019 the Spektr-RG space observatory went to the Lagrange point L2 (where the influence of the Sun and the Earth is balanced) at a distance of 1.5 million kilometers from the Earth.
Rogozin recalled that the new developers would have to evaluate what could be taken from the backlog of the Kazachok landing module for the implementation of national projects.
