Maikel van der Vleuten struts around in Monaco

This week, the Longines Global Champions Tour makes a stopover in Monaco, the tenth stop on the circuit. In the main event of the day, quoted at 1.55m, the Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten outclassed the competition by winning the dream of Elwikke. On his heels, the Luxembourger Victor Bettendorf and the Lorrain Simon Delestre completed the podium respectively in the saddle on M. Tac and Dexter Fontenis.



From 8 p.m., forty-one couples competed on the ephemeral track of Port-Hercule, in Monte-Carlo, for the first flagship event of the Monegasque stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) and its league (GCL). Among them, thirteen managed to thwart all the difficulties of the course imagined by the Italian course designer Uliano Vezzani. Finally, Maikel van der Vleuten and Elwikke (AES, Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Quick Star) were the fastest. The Dutchman and his ten-year-old mare crossed the finish line in 62″. A performance that no other competitor has managed to beat and which allowed the duo to win for the first time in a CSI 5 * He was not far from winning at the CSI 5* in Cannes, at the beginning of June.
Very fit in recent weeks, Victor Bettendorf took second place at the reins Mr. Tac (BWP, Non Stop x Toulon). The Luxembourger and the ten-year-old gelding, recent winners of the CSI 3* and 4* Grand Prix of Compiègne Classic and Bourg-en-Bresse, completed their lap in 62”35. Simon Delestre completed this top three. In the saddle on Dexter Fontenis (Z, Diarado x Voltaire), the Mosellan crossed the finish line in 62”92. Last week, the nine-year-old gelding had already taken second place in a Sprint at 1.55m at the CSIO 5* in Rotterdam.
Still for France, Emeric George and Diesel GP du Bois Madame (sBs, Cassius x Heartbreaker) also found the key to the imposed exercise, signing a perfect course in 71”92 thirteenth terminals. Julien Épaillard and Jeanne Sadran were penalized eight points to the dreams of Gracieux du Pachis (sBs, Tinka’s Boy x Caretino) and Comic Star (SF, Levistan x Diamant de Semilly).



Panthers roar in Monaco

During this event, support of the first round of the Monegasque stage of the GCL, three collectives managed to keep a clean scoreboard. The Hearts of Stockholm finished second thanks to the clear rounds of the British Lily Attwood and the Belgian Olivier Philippaerts on Calvaro’s Up to Date (AES, Calvaro x Up to Date) and H&M Legend of Love (DSP, Landzauber x Corgraf) in 135 ”68. The Pirates of Saint-Tropez completed this top three thanks to the clear rounds of Émeric George and the Irishman Michael Pender with Diesel GP du Bois Madame and HHS Fast Forward (ISH, Fortunus x Cavalier Royale) in 138”50 .
