distribution of 200 ventilators in schools

The major school plan initiated by the city of Marseille should ultimately allow better insulation of buildings.

A little expense in the schools. The town hall of Marseille will distribute 200 fans in schools to cope with the heat. It was the deputy mayor Pierre-Marie Ganozzi who first announced it on June 27, on BFM Marseille Provence.

A first distribution already took place on Tuesday at the Peyssonnel school, in the 3rd arrondissement of Marseille. This distribution relieves schoolchildren, victims of high heat in their establishment for a few weeks.

“It will be less hot and we will have air. In addition, when we open the window, there are children shouting in the yard”, rejoices a little girl at the microphone of BFM Marseille Provence.

Better insulation of buildings in perspective

The distribution of fans concerns the establishments most affected by high temperatures.

“We still don’t have enough fans to equip all the classrooms, but we also have to think about long-term solutions such as adapting the buildings to high temperatures”, explains the director of the Peyssonnel Christian Burgalassi school.

For him, “it is a challenge for the future of schools in particular, and to ensure that children can continue to work in the best conditions, from May until October”.

In the longer term, the major school plan initiated by the city of Marseille should allow better insulation of buildings.

This major school plan will make it possible in particular to adapt “to global warming and the Mediterranean climate”, explains Pierre-Marie Ganozzi.

Water distribution and garden hoses

On June 17, the parents of students had raised 38°C in the shade in the courtyard of the Michelet Foch school (4th). An untenable situation.

While waiting for the major renovations, the town hall of Marseille has also indicated by the end of the year that it has organized distributions of water bottles and the installation of garden hoses to refresh the children.
