CURRENT: Due to the drought, there will be water in Slovakia. Waterworks restrict water in these areas of Slovakia
For several weeks now, not a drop has fallen in several localities of our territory, while the most serious situation is current in central Slovakia. There they have already called on people to save themselves. Water sources are drying up.
Slovakia is rich in water resources, but these are not unlimited and distributed everywhere. This year is extremely dry in some localities and the precipitation deficit is starting to increase from day to day.
The situation is even worse in European countries. The worst is currently in Italy, where there is currently a huge amount of precipitation and the Po Valley is suffering from the most intense drought in 70 years. For example, the water has already been preserved in Milan, the rivers have dried up and the situation is so critical that they are even considering a partial discharge of Lake Garda to bring moisture into the valley.
The situation in Slovakia regarding water resources is not as critical as in Italy, for example, but water managers are sounding the alarm. Water, for example, in central Slovakia.
Slovakia suffers from a shortage
Since the beginning of the year, several areas have been struggling with precipitation, which is still sufficiently ending in recent weeks, and the situation is ending dramatically deteriorating this week, when temperatures in our territory are rising above +30 ° C.
Western Slovakia, for example, is doing relatively well. Since the west, several storm waves have advanced here in recent days, bringing important precipitation. However, these storm waves mostly disintegrated over western Slovakia and did not advance to the east, which can also be seen in the data.

While at Bratislava Airport fell from the beginning of the year more than 250 mm precipitation which is at the level of the long-term precipitation normal, so in Kosice fell from the beginning of the year length about 170 mm and compared to the long-term normal, more than 100 mm of precipitation is already missing.
It literally looks catastrophic in central Slovakia. In the vicinity of Banská Bystrica, only 180 mm of precipitation has fallen since the beginning of the year, which is more than in Košice, but if we look at health, the precipitation deficit is the most significant in central Slovakia. There is already 150 mm of rainfall at Sliač, while in the last 3 months, only about 50 mm have fallen precipitation.
Such a huge deficit of precipitation in central Slovakia already has its first consequences. Water managers warn that they are beginning to feel a lack of water and call for it to be saved.
Save water in central Slovakia!
