The nursing home of Grugny (Seine Maritime)north of Rouen, was sentenced in March 2022 by the administrative court to compensate Anita Tessier and her siblings, following the death of their father, which occurred in May 2017. The health of the octogenarian had rapidly deteriorated, and this only a few months after his admission. The information was revealed on June 29, 2022 by our colleagues from RTL.
Asked by 76newsAnita Tessier confirms: “He was in good shape when he was admitted in February [2017]. He died on May 5. After five years of proceedings, the administrative court declared the nursing home guilty of abuse. “And to add:” The lawyer presented his apologies to us, and declared that the establishment recognized the facts. But that is not enough ! We are talking about a human being. It’s more than abuse. »
“We trusted them”
Before being admitted to Grugny, Henri Tessier was in a private structure in Mont-Saint-Aignan. “He had Alzheimer’s, so he needed a medical structure. Anita and her sisters therefore looked for a place that could be suitable for their father. The choice finally fell on that of Grugny. “We trusted them, the setting was great. Dad loved nature. »
While visiting her, one of Anita’s sisters had raised questions several times. “My sister that he didn’t smell good at times. She reported it to the people on duty. And we told him that we weren’t showering him because he was ‘cosy’ and ‘complained of being in pain’”, underlines Anita.
It follows from the investigation that the management, by the medical team of Mr. Tessier’s pain, was faulty.
Between February and May 2017, his condition deteriorated very rapidly. “There was simply no care,” regrets Anita. His father eventually died of generalized gangrene.
Weight loss, “disfigured by pain”
At the end of April 2017, a few days before the death of her father, Anita had gone back to Normandy in an emergency, in order to attend the burial of her mother. “When I saw my father, I didn’t recognize him. He had lost a lot of weight. He was disfigured by the pain. »
Despite the condemnation of the establishment, it was impossible for Anita to mourn: “Just imagine the pain he had to undergo! »
In a few days, we lost both our parents.
“Now it’s too late for us. But what we want is for it to be known. Our desire is to prevent other families from going through the same tragedy that we experienced, ”finds Anita.
In the judgment that the drafting of 76news was able to consult, the Ehpad found guilty by the administrative court of Rouen was ordered to pay compensation to the family of the deceased.
