18 more cases of Monkeypox in Portugal. There are already 391
PPortuguese sum 18 more cases associated with the Monkeypox virus, bringing the total number of infections to 391according to data revealed by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), this Wednesday.
The organization notes that the Most infections have been reported so far in Lisbon and Vale do Tejoalthough cases in other mainland regions in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
“All confirmed infections are in men between the ages of 19 and 61, most of whom are under 40“, advances the DGS.
The cases, confirmed by the Ricardo Jorge National Health Institute (INSA), remain under clinical follow-up and are stable.
“A queer person will be sick in just one shedding of scabs from the complete deficiencies which may eventually occur after a period of four weeks”, in good time.
The DGS also recalls the “information collected from the investigations to be to contribute to the epidemic of the outbreak at national and international level”, ensuring “to monitor the situation at the national level in conjunction with the European institutions”.
The health authorities of Madeira confirmed, on Tuesday, the identification of the first case of infection with the Monkeypox virus. This is an adult, male, who was recently in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley regionaccording to the Regional Health Directorate in a statement.
Also on Tuesday, Spain received a first delivery of 5,300 doses of vaccines against the virusfollowed by Portugal, Germany and Belgium in July and Augustin a series of deliveries announced by the European Commission.
Remember, Monkeypox, smallpox, is caused by jets, family fluids and respiratory droplets to contaminated materials.
The incubation time is generally seven to 14 days, and the disease, which is endemic in West and Central Africa, lasts an average of two to four weeks.
The DGS recommends that anyone who has ulcers, rash, palpable lymph nodes, possibly accompanied by fever, chills, headache, fatigue and tiredness, seek medical advice.
