Mainly SAS Scandinavia aircraft rams

Common to the flights that can be canceled is that they mainly operate by SAS Scandinavia, and not the subsidiaries SAS Connect and SAS Link, or others that operate on the SAS route network. This is because it is the pilots in SAS Scandinavia who have now issued a strike warning.

The other companies also have other collective agreements.

Aircraft operated by the subsidiaries anticipate not to be affected by a possible strike. However, it can happen:

– We pay for a solution, but if it is crossed out, it will mean that parts of the SAS departures go as usual – but there may be some traffic disruptions also in that part of SAS, because scheduled flights are connected. You can see who is flying on your ticket, which says «operated by», explains Tonje Sund, press manager at SAS Norway.

A free rebooking

After Oslo Airport, it is Copenhagen Airport Kastrup that risks the most cancellations, as 47 of 194 departures can be canceled.

– If people have a flight that goes on the weekend, do you recommend that they rebook it?

– We advise people to follow the status of their flight in the app or on our website. Affected passengers will be notified by SAS, says press manager Sund in SAS further.

– But they will only be notified when a flight is canceled?

– Yes, if a flight is canceled, you will be notified, she says.

SAS offers travelers one free rebooking if they fly with SAS Scandinavia, SAS Link, SAS Connect, Air Baltic, Cityjet or XFLY which risk being affected by the potential strike.

– Can flights be canceled as a precautionary measure before a possible strike occurs?

– It will be pure speculation.

– Oslo seems to be affected by the most cancellations this weekend. What caused it?

– I do not want to speculate on how the traffic picture will be in the event of a strike, she continues.

Info

This is what SAS says applies to customers before and during a possible strike:

  • Before a possible strike:

If you are booked on a SAS flight between 29 June and 4 July 2022, you can rebook your trip for a later date free of charge even before it is clear that there will be a strike. You can rebook for a SAS flight on another date within the next 360 days to the same destination if the same service class is available, says press manager Tonje Sund.

  • If a possible strike is a fact and your flight is canceled, then the following applies:

– The process of rebooking starts immediately and we will get back to you with information as soon as possible. During the summer period, there are unfortunately fewer places available to book. Unfortunately, this means that in practice there will be limited opportunities to find new places in approximately the same time period as your original trip. You can cancel yourself and get the ticket refunded. You can rebook at a later date or arrange alternative travel methods within certain given limits, says Sund.

Cancellations tomorrow

Already tomorrow, several SAS flights have been canceled. The reason for this should be according to borsen.nr be a shortage of employees after the corona pandemic, as well as a number of sick leave, the company states.

As of 20.20, there are 16 flights, according to VG’s overview of air traffic in Norway and the world.
