All schools in Calais will be empty on July 5, 2022. This Tuesday, Natacha Bouchart, mayor of the city, announced that kindergartens and elementary schools would be closed. The reason ? the Tour de France will pass through Calais That day. We tell you more.
Reception places set up
Tuesday, July 5, the most populated town of Pas-de-Calais will host a major sporting event: the Tour de France. An event that will attract a large number of visitors to the Calais region.
The mayor took the decision to close the schools to “ensure the protection of the population, but also for reasons of potential difficulties in traffic and accessibility of schools”.
The municipality indicates that two nurseries will be set up to provide care for the children working parents who could not look after their children that day. The City of Calais therefore organizes a daycare service at the Parmentier Bachelet school (Grand rue du Petit Courgain) and at the Balzac school (Boulevard de l’Egalité).
A major sporting event in Calais
These two establishments were chosen by the municipality because of their location in the east of the city, close to easily accessible interchanges and outside the perimeter of the arrival of the Tour de France, but also for their ease of parking.
The meal will be organized on site. Morning daycare and evening daycare will be provided, from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the end of the day. You have been warned!
