The Young Mayors in San Marino and at the Festival of Digital and Social Innovation in Rimini

With great solemnity, the delegation of the Boys Mayors of Sicily and Veneto were in the great hall of the Council by the Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino, Oscar Mina and Paolo Rondelli, who addressed words of appreciation for the Civic Education project that makes the young people protagonists of democracy and active participation in the “school-small town”.
The coincidence of the date of the meeting on the day of the feast of Corpus Domini, with the participation of the municipal band, the gendarmerie in full uniform and the solemn Eucharistic blessing made the visit to the city of San Marino even more exciting, which on that very day hosted the stage of the Mille Miglia race, with a festive procession of flags and colors.
The Captains Regent were very pleased with the gifts that the young mayors presented on behalf of the municipalities of Catania, Nicolosi, Misterbianco, Tremestieri and Sant’Agata Li Battiati and of the Municipality of Zevio, in the province of Verona with the participation of the newly elected Mayor, Paola Conti.
In honor of the patron saint S. Agata, the chapel dedicated to the Catania celebration has been opened to Sicilian guests.
The elegant pack of artists stamps donated by the Captains Regent was then delivered to the respective mayors as a precious reminder of the institutional visit.
The delegation participated in Rimini in the “International Festival on digital and social innovation – We Make Future”, also bringing the innovative experience of Civic Education applied through the Municipal Council of Children, a project that will turn thirty years old next year.
Gaia di Fatti, Pietro Todeschini, Lorenzo Zambon di Zevio and Carla Longo of Tremestieri Etneo, presented the projects promoted and implemented at school by the Municipal Council for Children.
The meeting with the experts of the Postal Police on the risks of chats with the related requests for money as a ransom and the threat of putting personal images and news into circulation, further made us understand the need for a correct use of technologies and social media.
The visit to the stands crowded with visitors and full of innovative proposals, startups with social commitment, the multiple innovations of robotics and the performance of the humanoid robot “Sophia” offered the children the boundless universe of digitization and the correct use of social networks in the “construction of the future”.

The educational value of “digital citizenship”, the third pillar of Civic Education together with the Constitution and Sustainable Development, had a splendid showcase at the Rimini festival, in support of the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
The 23 participants in the didactic and training experience, promoted and coordinated by the chairman Giuseppe Adernò, in the three-day program also had the opportunity to enjoy a special Geography lesson in the park of Italy in miniature in Rimini and Medieval History at the Castle of Gradara, re-reading Dante’s story by Paolo and Francesca.
Full of enthusiasm, the participating children and the accompanying teachers received the applause of their parents, happy to offer their children a significant gift for the promotion achieved at school.
