the price of transport tickets will increase at the start of the 2022 school year

A first for 4 years. The price of tickets from bus and metro in Toulouse will increase from September 2022. On Wednesday June 22, following a meeting of the elected officials of Tisséo, Jean-Michel Lattes, the president of the organizing authority for urban transport, and Sacha Briand, the vice-president in charge of finances, have announced an increase in fares on the Toulouse bus, tram, metro and cable car network from September 1, 2022.

The single ticket goes to €1.80

The price list that will be adopted for 2022-2026 in Toulouse has not yet been detailed for each category of users, but two main changes have been unveiled. The first concerns the general public prices of single tickets, monthly and annual subscriptions… They will all increase by an average of 2% per year. This corresponds, for the two tariffs that have been explained, to an increase of 10 cents for the Tisséo single ticket which goes from €1.70 to €1.80.

The next increase in this ticket, which is only done in increments of ten cents to avoid units, is “scheduled in four years”, explains Tisseo. And an increase of €1 for the monthly subscription of €54.

Change for the under 26s and seniors

The second development concerns the Tisséo solidarity tariffs which applies to young people, retirees, the unemployed… If the principle of social pricing remains, it will be attenuated by taking into account a means test. This applies to young people from the age of 11, when entering college, up to the age of 26. You will have to be a scholarship holder to continue to benefit from the lowest price.

L’Monthly subscription to €10.80 for students should thus increase to a level which has not yet been fixed, but which remained below €16.20. For those over 65, job seekers and the disabled, the income criterion is set at twice the minimum wage, or €2,600 per month for a tax portion. Beyond that, you will have to pay more: the monthly subscription of €16.20 will thus increase to €27.50. Thus, it is these categories of users who will bear the greatest increase.

Namely that according to Tisséo calculations, 64% of young people under 26 and beneficiaries of solidarity tariffs are not affected by this reform, the average amount of a retirement pension (€1,400 per month) and unemployment benefit (€955) below the threshold set by Tisséo. There will therefore be changes for the wallets of Tisséo users at the start of the school year.
