FC Red Bull Salzburg is preparing for the coming season: As the Mozarstadt team announced on Tuesday, Strahinja Pavlovic has signed a five-year contract until 2027. The 21-year-old central defender has already played 20 international matches for the Serbian national team.
At club level, Pavlovic switched from Partizan Belgrade to AS Monaco in 2020, but he only played 12 games for the Monegasque. The 21-year-old has since been loaned out to his former club Partizan, Cercle Brugge and most recently to FC Basel. According to media reports, the transfer fee paid by Salzburg is said to be around seven million euros plus possible bonuses of two million euros.
Pavlovic: “I want to show what I can do”
“I’m very happy to be a FC Red Bull Salzburg player from now on. I’ve heard a lot about the club and I know that they rely heavily on young players here. I’m one of them now and I want to show what I’m capable of And of course I want to be there when it comes to winning titles and being successful in the Champions League,” Pavlovic explained in a broadcast.
Sports director Christoph Freund was also enthusiastic: “In Strahinja Pavlovic we have signed a universally deployable, aggressive young player who is good at tackling. He also has quite a bit of experience because I don’t think there are too many players who have 20 senior team appearances at that young age.
However, Salzburg’s friendly against Legia Warsaw scheduled for Tuesday had to be canceled due to poor pitch conditions. Due to the constant rain that had been going on since midday, the field was under water, a regular game was not possible
