László Palkovics: Hungary’s goal is to achieve energy autonomy
Hungary’s energy system plan not only aims to make the Hungarian energy system greener and more climate-friendly, it not only aims to achieve its emissions targets, but also aims to achieve the country’s energy autonomy.
– Technology out to the Minister of Technology and Industry in Luxembourg, to MTI by phone on Monday.
László Palkovics, following the meeting of the ministers responsible for energy affairs in the member states, explained the details of the meeting with Kadri Simson with the Commissioner for Energy:
energy supply Hungary must be as independent as possible from its environment.
He said: Hungary has started to become independent in terms of energy supply for more than a decade, and now it has gas and electricity transmission points from all surrounding countries. Hungary is also working on how to create an energy situation based on locally produced energy if it does not come from any direction.
The Minister of Technology and Industry said
Hungary has modified its energy system plan to meet its 2030 climate targets,
and to be able to move towards meeting the 2050 targets. Hungary is planning procurements that are suitable for making the economy more environmentally friendly or as a solution for energy storage. Hungary would like the European Union to take part in the financing of investments, because, as he said, this is not only a Hungarian program, but also a solution to Europe’s energy independence problem.
Declared by:
Hungary’s gas supply is guaranteed.
However, as supply can also be disrupted or interrupted, the government will do everything in its power to ensure the country’s energy supply.
The Minister reminded of the filling of the gas reservoirs in Hungary: the reservoirs had to be filled to at least 80 percent before the beginning of the winter period of 2022-2023. In Hungary, more than two-thirds of the required quantity has already been filled, László Palkovics added.
