Former national coach al Saadi now coaches regional league club DHC Hannover
Personal coup with the hockey men of the DHC: ex-national coach Kais al Saadi joins the second division relegated team – initially on an interim basis for six months as a “friendly service”. Maybe even stay longer?
Hanover. From the position of national coach straight into the regional league – for Kais al Saadi (45) that is not relegation. The man who last year was in charge of the German men’s national team at the Olympic Games in Tokyo will now coach the men’s hockey team at DHC Hannover. After relegation from the 2nd league to the regional league, the DHC gets back up with a vengeance. Al Saadi is to lay the foundation stone as interim coach. He has initially pledged his commitment for six months.
“It’s primarily a friendly service,” says al Saadi at his presentation in Hanover. His contract with the German Hockey Association (DHB) expired at the turn of the year. Because he and the association had different ideas about how to proceed to the 2024 games in Paris, there was no extension. “I should have been responsible for the results. That’s only possible if I can go my own way. So we parted on good terms,” explains al Saadi.
