[Anciens] An anecdote about Courbis and Calais in 2000
It’s a pretty funny anecdote from the documentary on the epic of Calais in the Coupe de France. Who had led CFA fans to the Stade de France with an epic final lost against Nantes (2-1) on an extremely contentious penalty in the last minutes. In the round of 16, Calais received AS Cannes then in the second division. A very choppy meeting that stretches into extra time. Cannes par Chabaud opens the score in the 114th minute. An observer and great friend of the Riviera club was present that evening in Boulogne at the Stade de la Liberation. This is Rolland Courbis. And the attitude that had him at the opening of the score had greatly displeased the Calais president who tells it in the documentary.
“When Cannes opens the mark, the leaders are convinced of being qualified. There is even in the gallery, Rolland Courbis, who comes down the steps and steps aside to call friends from Cannes to reassure them and tell them that they were qualified because Cannes had just opened the mark. He didn’t have time to go back to the stand that we had equalized.
A goal from Hogard on a scramble in the 118th which gave hope to the CRUFC which would qualify a few minutes later after the penalties.
