1860 Munich: Tim Rieder is a lion again and introduces himself – football
There he is again!
All-rounder Tim Rieder (28) returns to his heart club 1860 after two years away (including Kaiserslautern and Türkgücü Munich).
And talks about…
...his return: “Actually, the contact was never broken. After Türkgücü went bankrupt, the coach, sports director and Anthony Power (representative of the investor Hasan Ismaik, ed.) tried to get me directly. It was very important to me to finally arrive at a club. I’ve never been happy far away. 1860 is my home club, I don’t feel so comfortable anywhere else.”
…his flirtation with Austria: “A curious story. In the winter, Peter Pacult (62/ex-Löwen coach, died Red.) wanted to bring me to Klagenfurt. I signed the contract at a service area for the away game with Türkgücü in Halle. But in the end the change was submitted to the DFB five minutes too late. In retrospect, a stroke of luck, because I would have stayed there for 1.5 years and the way to 1860 would have been blocked.”
…his past: “I have learned that money is not everything. If you sit at home and aren’t happy, then all that money won’t do you any good.”
… Türkgücü Munich: “After the bankruptcy I thought it would be the saddest chapter of my life. But the time was finally instructive. I learned to appreciate again what it means to be able to do my dream job every day. When you sit on the couch at the weekend and can only watch – that’s hard. And Türkgücü has shown once again: just investing money is simply not enough.”
…his goals with 1860: “It was already said in the first talks that you have high ambitions, you’ve been in the league long enough. A lot is already working. The friendly against KSC (4-0 win, ed.) showed that we get on really well on the pitch and that will get even better. There’s pressure here, but that’s what I live for. I don’t feel like a newcomer either, I’m already helping the others.”
…his favorite position: “I’ve been asking this question my whole career. I can play anywhere. Six, right-back, central defender – it doesn’t matter. I help where there is a need.”
…the competition: “The league is balanced. But Saarbrücken will be there. Mannheim had a lot of departures but played good football last season. But the way I see it, if we stick to our game, it will be difficult to beat us.”
…the prelude: “What’s better than a full hut at Dynamo Dresden? We can put an exclamation mark on that right away.”
…the 1st round in the cup against Dortmund: “I know from my time in Augsburg how difficult it can be for the Bundesliga club. We were eliminated in Verl 2019 in the first round.”
...his essence: “I’m already a speaker and I represent my opinion.”
…the captain’s office: “We have a captain and Stefan Lex is doing great and is happy to remain captain.”
…wife Luisa: “We got married during the summer break, it was a big step. We honeymooned in Greece, on Kos. My wife sees me as a calming pool, family man, and a man who can pick her up. She was so happy for me when the training started here, even wanted to give me a school bag to start with. That was not the case with Türkgücü. I probably behaved differently at home. They also have an idea of what all this means to me.”
