Zlatin Penev Wins PokerStars Summer Festival Malta Main Event (€ 144,630)

of Bulgaria Zlatin Penev became a live poker tournament champion for the first time and how he did it. Penev came out on an 815-strong field in the PokerStars Summer Festival Malta Main Eventa result that came with a winning trophy and € 144,630 the best in his career.

Penev entered the € 2,200 High Roller earlier in the festival but missed the final table appearance. He did more than amend by removing the € 1,100 Main Event and getting his first six-digit score.

Martin Paap of the Netherlands was the first of nine finalists to finish. Paap raised € 13,390 for his efforts, the fourth highest live score of his career.

of Poland Marcin Dziubdziela collect € 38,230 after falling to fifth place. This principal sum is twice the previous Polish best score of € 17,780 which is banked after entering European Poker Tour Prague 2022 Main Event.

Riccardo ErcaThe decision to make the short trip to Malta for this event proved to be an excellent one because he sailed to fourth place, his first live cash, worth € 49,710.

Until the UKIPT Main Event / Estrellas Malta, Krzysztof Michalik had live cash amounting to $ 9,264. He now has $ 77,363 in earnings thanks to third place in this event weighing € 64,620 ($ 68,099).

Heads-up pitted Penev against Canada Vadim Tsatskin. No agreement was reached despite a difference of € 54,170 in payments. The misunderstanding meant that Tsatskin left with € 90,460 when he fell to second place, and Penev padded his bankroll with a fresh € 144,630.

PokerStars Summer Festival Malta Side Event Results

Although Penev’s six-digit haul was the festival’s biggest payout, a handful of others saw five-figure awards go into their bank accounts.

Ben Jonesthe British online grinder known as “jenbizzle,” won the € 2,200 High Roller for € 75,190, while Norway Thomas Haverstad triumphed in€ 550 No-Limit Hold’em Deep Stack and raised € 22,710.

of Switzerland Karl Sandoff won the € 440 Mystery Bounty for € 44,868. Sandoff collected the highest prize of € 16,768 worth € 28,100 in mysterious grants.

The final five-figure prize went to Hungary Szabolocs Horvath, which won the € 5,200 Super High Roller for € 33,370.
