Vandalism in Toulouse: insulting tags on the church and the monument to the dead of Saint-Martin-du-Touch
Insulting tags appeared on the walls of the church of Saint-Martin-du-Touch and the war memorial. The town hall of Toulouse wishes to file a complaint.
Who likes to tag the walls of the church of Saint-Martin-duTouch, the statue of the Virgin and the war memorial? For the time being, the author or authors of these tags, which are not artistic, still remain unknown to the municipal services who discovered the pot of roses a few days ago.
The neighborhood mayor and deputy mayor of Toulouse Jean-Jacques Bolzan took to social media to denounce an act of vandalism that “attacks our memory”.
The district of St Martin du Touch has been affected for a few days by Tags. Today is too much, it is inadmissible that our memory is attacked. They attack the symbols of freedoms and more broadly to France.

A complaint lodged
A resident of the neighborhood, crossed yesterday at the end of the morning near the church, cannot believe it. She testifies on condition of anonymity: “They are surely kids from the neighborhood, but it is not very clear what message they want to convey, says the sixty-year-old. And then to cross out the names inscribed on the war memorial with paint is a disgrace to the memory of those soldiers who gave their lives on the battlefields”.
On a wall of the bell tower, an inscription: “fuck Jesus” and illegible inscriptions, like a signature, on the statue of the Virgin. According to Jean-Jacques Bolzan, the neighborhood has been the target of taggers for a few days.

“The series of tags started two or three days ago, explains Jean-Jacques Bolzan. Today, it takes on another dimension with the war memorial which is tagged, it’s amazing, and tags on the bell tower and the statue of the Blessed Virgin. It is no longer stupidity that can be seen on certain walls, it is a serious attack. I asked for a complaint. With our CCTV cameras, I hope we can identify the authors of these tags. Of course, we will not stop there”.
The district mayor reports other tags committed on Chemin de la Bouriette, Route de Bayonne. “It’s sometimes painted heads, initials, but difficult to understand the meaning. I think it may be the same person, because it is always the same color of paint. ” According to the deputy mayor, there was no precedent of this kind in the Toulouse district of Saint-Martin-du-Touch.
