Barcelona won the tug of war for Koundé
Sevilla and Barcelona have agreed on a transfer for Jules Koundé. Once again, the Catalans secure and play which was highly relevant for Chelsea.
Barcelona confirms the agreement on its websites. They do not disclose the transfer fee.
They further write that the medical test and contract signing will continue back before the transfer is finalized.
Koundé has impressed greatly for Sevilla since arriving at the club in 2019 and has been sought after by several clubs during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea have been looking for Koundé since last summer, but the Frenchman wanted to go to Barcelona.
The Catalans also snapped up Raphinha in front of Chelsea, who earlier this summer were interested in both Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembélé. Both ended up signing for Barcelona.
In addition, Barcelona brought in centre-back Andreas Christensen as a boss player from Chelsea. Koundé and Christensen strengthen the Barcelona defence, with Clément Lenglet on loan at Tottenham and with Samuel Umtiti on leave at the Camp Nou.
Franck Kessié was Barcelona’s very first summer signing. He came as a midfielder from Milan, despite interest from Chelsea.
