Toulouse: Tisséo buses are definitely leaving rue de Metz, how the network is reorganizing
From August 28, 2022, no more buses will circulate in the rue de Metz, in Toulouse. The Tisséo network will be reorganized in the sector. Explanations.
The last time the Tisséo network permanently “evacuated” its buses from a city center artery was rue d’Alsace-Lorraine in 2007. The opening of line B led to the removal of buses , 400 per day at the time in the artery which had become semi-pedestrian.
“Today we are doing the same rue de Metz, from August 29, to calm traffic and give back to residents and soft modes. The rue de Metz will undergo extensive work, to create cycle paths, widen the sidewalks. A huge amount of work has been done by the Tisséo departments to maintain an equivalent service for users,” explains Jean-Michel Lattes, president of Tisséo Collectivités.
Merger of Lineo 7 and 9, line 14 modified, line 66 extended
Concretely, part of the buses have been switched to the boulevards, and another to Esquirol. Lineo 7 and 9 will merge, from August 29, to become the new Lineo 9. The part of the initial line 9, located between Esquirol and Empalot is provided by line 44, with the creation of a stop rue Ozenne. The route of line 14 is modified between Saint-Cyprien and Jean-Jaurès. It will pass by the Pont des Catalans and the boulevards, before returning to its current route to the Marengo SNCF terminus. At the same time, line 66 will be extended from Saint-Cyprien to Grand Rond.
Advantage of the tram to Blagnac
Work is being carried out by Tisséo to increase the frequency of passage of the tram to Blagnac: one train every 4 minutes 30, against one every 9 minutes currently. A partial terminus has been created at Odyssud. This summer, from July 18 to August 26, the network will be disrupted. In particular from July 25 to August 16, when the T1 and T2 lines will be interrupted, and extended by bus shuttles.
