Toulouse emergency strike: patient reception remains disabled
Since June 6, the towel has been burning between the management of the Toulouse University Hospital (Haute-Garonne) and the emergency service unions. Faced with a lack of resources, the teams are on strike again this Monday, June 27 in adult emergencies, forcing management to adapt the activity of all of its emergencies and its medical and surgical services. According to the CGT, between 90 to 95% of the agents were on strike.
Until Tuesday, June 28, the adult somatic (Purpan and Rangueil) and psychiatric emergencies of the hospital only receive vital emergencies disseminated by the Samu. For all other pathologies, it is advisable to contact private health establishments, your attending physician or 39 66 after 8 p.m., to be taken care of by a general practitioner on call.
Unions demand 90 recruitments
“The Toulouse University Hospital regrets that the course of the strike and the non-response to the summons are hampering the operating conditions of the public hospital service that we are developing for you, underlines the management of the University Hospital in a press release. The Toulouse University Hospital thanks its professionals mobilized to allow the continuity of care, public and private health establishments, like the liberal doctors who are at its side.
Friday, the management of the CHU had recorded the creation of 16 additional jobs in the emergencies of Purpan and 8 in those of Rangueil, to cope with the overactivity that the service is experiencing. A proposal far from the expectations of the CGT and Sud unions, which are demanding 41 positions in Purpan, 22 in Rangueil and 27 in psychiatric emergencies. The two unions are protesting a letter from management sent to the 15,000 CHU staff on Friday, indicating that they are blocking negotiations. They met management on Monday noon at a new meeting.
“We want to make the staff feel guilty for being on strike, but we have been alerting to this situation for years and our unions want to want and be heard, assures Pauline Salingue, CGT union representative for hospital staff at the Toulouse University Hospital. After a meeting with the four Nupes deputies this morning, we requested a meeting with the management who received us. We are ready to discuss but there are recruitment minimums below which we will not go because the situation is too serious in the emergency room ”. Regarding the psychiatric emergency strike, a meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28.
