Metropolitan elected officials voted Monday, June 27 a solar plan to develop solar energy in the territory of Greater Lyon.
Since 2015, solar energy production has only increased by 7% in the territory according to the Métropole de Lyon. To stick to its objectives of green energy production, the environmentalist majority therefore wants to boost solar energy in Greater Lyon. In this context, a solar plan was presented to the metropolitan council on Monday, June 27 in the morning. The elected officials then voted in favor of this text
In a press release, the Metropolis of Lyon indicated that this plan would be broken down into six axes, in particular with a mass production of photovoltaic electricity on metropolitan sites, encouragement for collective self-consumption or even encouragement to develop projects photovoltaic on private or public land.
The Metropolis also says it wants to “minimize the impacts”, such as landscape integration. A reflection will therefore be carried out on the aesthetic side of the installation of photovoltaic panels. Finally, the solar plan will see the creation of a Solar Club which will be responsible for promoting the implementation of projects with public and private players.
