Scandic Spectrum: Scandic’s largest hotel with spa and Michelin chef
HOTEL: Scandic Spectrum is Scandic’s 30th hotel in Denmark, and offers modern facilities with a Nordic touch. Here it is possible to enjoy culinary experiences in restaurants, and not least you can make use of a first-class spa.
– As the name suggests, Scandic Spectrum offers a wide range of experiences. Our vision is to be a dynamic and inviting hotel both inside and out. I am incredibly proud to open this hotel with my 130 colleagues. We look forward to welcoming guests and locals to stay, use the spa area, enjoy a craft cocktail on the roof terrace or meet friends to eat, says hotel director Kirsten Glente Grindsted in a press release.
Inspired by Nordic lifestyle
Scandic Spectrum is designed by Dissing + Weitling, while Space Copenhagen has been responsible for the interior. It is inspired by the Nordic lifestyle, and refers to both nature and the historic industrial harbor nearby. It is expressed in material choices such as glass, concrete and steel, while the Nordic nature is repeated in the use of stone, wood and a generally toned-down color palette. This will be particularly visible, for example, on the roof terrace and in the idyllic courtyards on the ground floor.
Scandic Spectrum aims to offer a new type of hotel experience that can enjoy a good night’s sleep in combination with a number of exciting experiences. That is why the spa and events department is open to all people. Scandic Spectrum will host events, dinners, concerts and quiz nights that are open to both guests and the city’s population.
– As the largest hotel operator in the Nordic region, and based on many years of experience in running a hotel, we see great potential in this new and different hotel. It offers a wide range of experiences, regardless of whether you are on a weekend trip in Copenhagen, looking for unique conference rooms or want to enjoy a spa or other types of events, says CEO of Scandic Denmark, Søren Faerber.
Spa with feeling of forest, mountain and fjord
The spa department is inspired by the Nordic forests, fjords and mountains. Here you can use the 25 meter long pool, sauna, Rasul thermal leisure treatment and choose from a large menu of spa treatments with natural and sustainable products.
The hotel also has a conference room on the top floor, several of which have access to the roof terrace, and four rooms for events of more than 300 people.
Sustainability is an integral part of Scandic Spectrum’s business, and the hotel is certified in line with the new requirements for the Nordic Ecolabel, which will help to further reduce climate pressure. In practice, this involves Scandic Spectrum to focus on reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions, increasing the use of eco-labeled cleaning products, serving more environmentally friendly and reduced mats. Sustainability also plays an important role in restaurants, Ansvar and Nordbo, which base their offerings on high-quality organic ingredients from local suppliers.

– Sustainability has been important at Scandic since the beginning, and as the largest hotel chain in the Nordic region, we also have a responsibility to continue to develop and lead by example as a good example for the entire industry. I am proud that this is integrated in all parts of Scandic Spectrum, and especially in the restaurants where we see that we can be part of the solution without it going to the detriment of quality, says Faerber.
Food from the restaurant’s city garden.
At the restaurant Ansvar – Greenery Lab on its top floor, Martin Sørensen has created a growth-based dining experience based on organic, local ingredients and alternative proteins. The menu includes vegetables and herbs from the restaurant’s city garden, and the drink selection is also organic. Sørensen has previously worked at Michelin-starred restaurants such as Noma in Copenhagen and Restaurant Amador in Germany.
The other and more informal restaurant, Nordbo, is located on the ground floor and is inspired by a Nordic lifestyle. It serves seafood, pizza and pasta made primarily from local ingredients and its own charcuterie.
