“Red Bull Soapbox Race” in San Marino, here are the best and funniest moments of the craziest Grand Prix in the world
An exceptional jury, lots of color, laughter and healthy madness made the 2022 edition of the “Red Bull Soapbox Race”, once again, a unique race.
There Republic of San Marino, returned for a day to be immersed in the medieval atmosphere, was the perfect setting to combine tradition and fun thanks to its unique hospitality. A lot of music and performances animated a real Red Bull show, the “Red Bull Soapbox Race”.
Nicolò De Devitiis, famous speaker of Radio 105 and correspondent of “Le Iene”was the presenter of the eventinterviewing and cheering on the team before departure.
I 39 teams from all over Italythey have shown incredible creativity by building truly unique cars.
Many different stories and teams of friends united by a crazy passion for engines and strong self-irony. The many people present were able to admire in the streets of San Marino such cars: a film set with a tribute to the director Federico Fellini, the balcony of Romeo and Juliet, vegetables, animals in papier-mâché, pasticciotti or tortellini.
Accidents on the public track were also amusing: many cars that did not stand up to the obstacles, the jumps or the chicane that preceded the finish line.
The race was interspersed with 5 special moments of exhibition that saw the descent on the skateboard of Alessandro Mazzara and his crew, and the special cars driven by the Alpha Tauri stable, Simone of The Jackalthe streamer Simone Panetti, Naska and Mike Lennon and the representation of the iconic can Red Bull with tires BF Goodrich. The latter vehicle was driven by Federico Pedini Amati, the Secretary of State for Tourism.
Having liberated the imagination and the care in driving to overcome the obstacles placed along the course, the ball passed to the jury who had the arduous task of deciding the winners.
Alfredo Felco, member of Lo Sciacallo; Luis Sal, one of the most famous creators in Italy; Leonardo Fioravanti, Red Bull athlete and first Italian surfer to reach the world championship and the Olympics; Veronica Ruggeri, correspondent of “Le Iene”they had to add up the scores deriving from the speed of travel, the creativity, the idea and the choreography that each team had to stage before leaving.
Special guest of the event was Yuki Tsunoda, protagonist of the award ceremony. The Japanese driver of the AlphaTauri Team rewarded the team “Garage Car-ota Gag “ of Mussolente (Vicenza) to come absolute winner scoring the highest score. To the second place the team “Fat 50” of Bologna who staged a representation of the historic film with John Travolta.
To the third place The Verona team “We are like a balcony”who presented the choreography in which Juliet looks out from the balcony and then runs away with her Romeo driving the vehicle.
The second prize, for the team from the university worldwas assigned to Como boys of “Buying Alfa”who reused a trolley to create a super light and very fast car.
The enthusiasm for the event has not been exhausted around the competition as the highlights of the “Red Bull Soapbox Race” will be the protagonists of a special episode written and commented on by The Jackal. A beautiful Julyindeed, will air exclusively on DMAX (Warner Bros. Discovery group, digital terrestrial channel 52), a summary of the most hilarious moments, the ‘behind the scenes’ anecdotes and interviews with the protagonists.
