Prestigious tourist awards in Hungary
The Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) did not stop building the tourism market during the epidemic period either. The success of this is confirmed by the fact that Hungary has received four awards this year at the National Tourism Fashion Awards, the defining annual event of the Chinese tourism industry.

- the “top 10 most anticipated tourist destinations”,
- the “top 10 best destination promotion destination” and
- “Top 10 Innovative Live Streaming Destinations”
The Hungarian Tourist Board (MTÜ) wrote in its statement.
Hungary was also awarded the “Creative Event Award” for its Beijing event for Chinese tourism professionals, the main purpose of which was to promote Hungary’s tourism and economic offerings and to support the market for businesses operating in the field of tourism.
The most prestigious of the recognitions is the “top 10 most anticipated tourist destination” award, which was awarded only to Hungary from the Central European region, but apart from us, only three other countries from all over Europe – France, Germany and the Netherlands – were included in the selection.
Zsófia Jakab, Deputy Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of MTÜ, said: “The prestigious acknowledgments have given us further confirmation that we have successfully adapted to the saved circumstances in recent years. Our strategic goal to boost tourism is to continue to focus on sales and marketing. On the international stage, we are constantly working to get the message to as many sending markets as possible: Hungary is a safe destination for all tourists. “
According to the data of the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), in 2021 nearly 5,000 guests arrived in Hungary from China, who spent 46,000 in guesthouses. 72 percent of the guests arrived in Budapest.
By 2022, the number of Chinese guests will be over 7,000 so far, with 33,000 guest nights, and the proportion of those interested in the capital will be 76 percent.
In Budapest, Chinese visitors mostly visit the Parliament and its surroundings, Margaret Island, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Citadel and the Gozsdu Court.
