Drunk driver lands with Mercedes on the lake shore – Salzburg
A driver (37) apparently looked a little too deep into the glass and stranded his Mercedes on a bench on the lake shore in Zell am See.
On June 25, shortly before 11 p.m., the police stopped a car driver, a 24-year-old Afghan, on Gaswerkgasse in the city of Salzburg. During the check, it was found that a 28-year-old Polish woman sitting in the back seat and her 20-month-old son were not wearing a seat belt or using a restraint device.
An alcohol test was carried out on the handlebars. This resulted in 1.3 per thousand. The driver’s license was taken away, further driving was forbidden and reports were issued.
Stranded on the lake shore
Two days later, on June 27, shortly after 5 a.m., the police in Zell am See drove to a traffic accident in which the driver was unable to continue because the vehicle had got stuck. The driver of the accident was a 37-year-old Saudi Arabian national who had driven his car onto a seat on the lake shore and had ended up with the car.
A pre-alcohol test carried out resulted in a blood alcohol content of 1.32. The driver refused an alcohol test. The Zell am See fire brigade is salvaging the car. The driver’s license was taken away, further driving was prohibited, a complaint was filed and a security deposit was collected.
