Does a Salzburg Defender end his career at the age of 27? – Hockey-News.info
He is just 27 years old and won the championship with the Red Bulls from Salzburg last season. Now it could be that defender Keegan Kanzig ends his career and Salzburg has to look around again.
Two meters tall and weighing 112 kilograms, these are the impressive dimensions of defender Keegan Kanzig. The Canadian played his way up to the ECHL and AHL via the WHL. Last season, the 27-year-old moved to Europe for the first time and signed for Red Bulls Salzburg.
His strength is clearly in the defensive area, Kanzig is not a man from whom you can expect a lot of points, but you know exactly what you are getting, an uncompromising, tough player who still acted fairly most of the time. In a total of 61 games for Salzburg, he scored two goals and four assists and also secured the title.
Actually, his contract was only extended by another year at the beginning of May, but as hockey insider Bernd Freimüller tweeted, Kanzig is already thinking about the end of his career.
Looks like @ecrbs has to give up in search of muscle mass: D Keegan Kanzig is thinking of retiring and not returning to Salzburg…

Salzburg would therefore have to explore the market again on the defensive for a large and difficult player.
