VADUZ – On the initiative of the Ministry of Society and Culture, a contact point for the clarification of any long-Covid cases will be available at the Liechtenstein State Hospital (LLS) from Friday, July 1, 2022. The aim is for the person concerned to receive the right treatment as quickly as possible.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Post-Covid-19, also known as “Long-Covid”, refers to the ongoing long-term health symptoms of coronavirus infection that some people experience after contracting Covid-19, according to the government release. The terms “post-Covid-19”, “long-Covid” or “long-term consequences of Covid-19” are used synonymously. Common symptoms of post-Covid-19 disease are persistent fatigue, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, as well as cognitive or neurological disorders. According to the information, the severity and duration of the symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. The specialist knowledge about the post-Covid-19 disease as well as about the Covid-19 infection is itself constantly being further developed.
The first point of contact is the general practitioner
According to the government, family doctors are still the first point of contact for people affected by post-Covid-19 in Liechtenstein. “They clarify the symptoms and determine how to proceed,” it says. “If there is a specific clarification, the person concerned can be referred to the Liechtenstein State Hospital from July 1, 2022.” The aim is to clarify the patients completely, quickly and easily. The state hospital relies on the technical expertise available in the state and region.
“The population thus has a suitable place that is adapted to local needs for the interdisciplinary clarification of post-Covid-19 diseases,” writes the Ministry of Society.
