Budget of the city of Brussels not yet approved by the region
At the city council of the city of Brussels, three provisional twelve have again been approved, which means that the budget has not yet entered into force. The Brussels Region has requested additional time to audit the budget. The lineup is not happy with the very late budget.
The budget of the city of Brussels was approved and approved at the city council of 25 April. Afterwards, the budget went to the Brussels region for control, but councilor David Weytsman was able to report that an additional 40 days were requested at the regional level to verify the veracity of some income.
Brussels mayor Philippe Close says so, but gives few reasons for the late budget. “The law is clear: the budget is not approved and then the system of provisional twelfths comes into effect,” says Close.

The provisional twelfths ensure that the expenses of the year can become. The new budget of the City of Brussels will probably only be validated and come into effect on 1 September. Much to the dismay of the opposition parties.
“A four-month budget with less than half of what the college wants to implement will be realized.
Municipal councilor Mathias Vanden Borre (N-VA) describes it as follows: “This is nothing less than financial mismanagement. It is unprecedented in the entire history of the city of Brussels that financial management is getting messed up,” he says.
