Alexandra Szentkirályi: Hungary remains on the side of peace, government gives all aid to refugees
The government spokesman emphasized peace, Hungary was on its side, and the war should end as soon as possible.
The fate of the two Ukrainian children who handed over medals at the World Water Championships in Budapest is also a testament to the fact that peace is the only way to end the war as soon as possible, a government spokesman said on Facebook on Sunday.
Alexandra Szentkirály appreciated as a touching moment at the World Cup that refugee children hung the gold medal around the neck of the Ukrainian synchronized swimming team.
Adrianna and Timur are two children from the nearly 800,000 people who fled their homeland through Hungary before the war, found help or a temporary home here, they cannot return home so far, he explained.
He emphasized that they also took part in the presentation of the first-place gold medals at the World Water Championships in Budapest, causing not only surprise but also great joy and touching moments for the Ukrainian team.
The government spokesman underlined that the cabinet will provide all assistance to refugees in Hungary, including kindergarten and school education, for a total of more than 2,000 children.
Adrianna and Timur have been integrated into the school in recent months and their mothers are working, but the two families are still living apart as the fathers are still in Ukraine, Alexandra Szentkirályi said.
He also said that the government was working closely with the Ecumenical Relief Organization, one of the six major Hungarian charities that had been supporting refugees since the outbreak of the war, in organizing the event.
“Hungary is still on the side of peace, we will help everyone who comes to us!” Alexandra Szentkirályi closed her statement.
