Aeronautics: the emblematic Transall retires in Toulouse, at the Aeroscopia museum
This is a historic moment for an aircraft that has marked the history of the Air Force. The Transall landed one last time, Monday June 27, at Toulouse-Blagnac airport (Haute-Garonne). The troop carrier aircraft, integrated in Toulouse, is retiring. It will soon be exhibited at the Aeroscopia museum.
For its last flight, the Transall C160, number R212, put on its finery. The military aircraft decked out in blue, white and red for the tour of its final flight.
Reliable and robust, the Transall has marked its time. The one that some nicknamed Pollux – name of the small dog with a round and black nose from a cartoon of the 60s – landed for the last time in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), Monday June 27, where he was designed and built. The troop carrier aircraft has flown a total of 1,450,000 hours around the world, taking part in all French military and humanitarian operations. The device will have marked the parades of July 14 on the Champs Elysées, during its passages in the Parisian sky.
The Airbus A400M, designed in the early 2000s, will replace it. The Transall will not completely disappear. It will be possible to visit it soon at the Aeroscopia museum.
