Abortion, San Marino nine months after the referendum still does not have the law that legalizes it
Too much haste to celebrate, perhaps. And then silence (legislative). Nine months have passed since the referendum on the legalization of abortion in San Marino, which saw the `S win big with 77% of the votes, but no law on the matter has yet been promulgated. The San Marino Women’s Union, which supported the referendum, did so in the aftermath of the sentence of the American Supreme Court which delegates the legislation on voluntary interruption of pregnancy to the federal states. The complaint with a long post on social media
We demand the law immediately
To date, the policy has not yet responded to the Union of San Marino Women on the timing of the convocation of the permanent council commission that will have to work on the draft law on voluntary interruption of pregnancy, from April stopped at the first reading, is stated in a note. The association hopes that a discussion table will be convened as soon as possible between the political forces that supported the `S in the referendum and those that, while remaining neutral on the issue, expressed their willingness to respect the referendum outcome. What the association asks for is the presentation of shared amendments, leaving out the usual little flag theater, typical of a past policy that no one wants to review. In short, a quick transition from theory to practice is required as soon as possible.
