Beaten in Toulouse, the players of AS Monaco FF miss the accession to D2
After a back-to-back draw (2-2) last Sunday at AS Monaco FF in the second round of the first leg play-off for women’s D2, it was time for a reunion this Sunday on the land adjoining the Toulouse stadium. A cleaver meeting to end an exceptional season from the players of Stéphane Guigo.
In front of more than 600 people gathered around the handrail, including players from the professional squad of the TFC, who had just been promoted to L1, the Monegasques made a good start, returning blow for blow to the Violettes in a rough match.
Hounsa maintained hope
Half an hour into the game, however, it was the Toulousaines who found the opening on a free kick. Already a scorer in the first leg, Sonia Roumiga left Côte d’Azur goalkeeper Jade Hounsa no chance of a magnificent comeback (31′).
It is therefore with only a goal behind and still means to hope that the Monegasques return to the locker room.
Determined to overthrow everything, they came back with strong intentions, without ever succeeding in finding the fault.
However, the Toulousaines raised their level of play, imposing a physical challenge that the Asemists had more and more difficulty meeting. By dint of retreating, they allowed Toulouse to find several times the amounts. And when it wasn’t the posts, it was goalkeeper Jade Hounsa, author of a remarkable performance, who allowed her team to still believe in it.
But if the Monegasques did not concede an additional goal, they did not manage to score either, bowing on the smallest of scores. As a result, they will always evaluate in R1 next season.
