Avignon / Les Angles. Objects of stars at auction: 60,000 euros indicated
It was an extraordinary auction. A Nadal jersey, Tsonga’s sneakers, a day on horseback with Thierry Lhermitte… These objects or star moments were snapped up for a good cause on June 23. All profits were reversed to the Vertical Combat association, founded by Caroline Darbier, Paul’s mother, who became a quadriplegic after a mountain bike fall in 2020. There are still a few rare lots available, such as Johnny Hallyday’s jacket and Mireille Matthew.
This resident of Angles had organized this event at the Foch Automobiles BMW-Mini dealership in Avignon, where a hundred guests raised their hands to grab the object that made them vibrate. They were in competition with Internet users, connected directly to online sales on Drouot.fr. Like Vianney’s guitar, rewarded the surprise, which raised the auction to 5,600 euros!
In total, the sale allowed a profit of 60,000 euros, “a result commensurate with the energy deployed”. A sum that brings Paul Darbier a little closer to the financing of the operation, only possible in China, which will allow him motor recovery and which costs no less than 100,000 euros.
