US President Joe Biden and other representatives of the G7 (G7) countries agree on a ban on gold imports from Russia in response to the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine. About it informs Reuters, citing sources.
Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, also publicly stated that new sources of rapid response to the needs of the Ukrainian army are expected.
According to a Reuters source, the US Treasury will issue an order on June 28 to ban the import of new Russian gold into the United States of America. Thus, Washington wants to further isolate Moscow from the world economy.
Earlier Reuters citing sources reportthat the application may also include the next package of a ban on the import of gold from Russia. A source familiar with the sanctions case confirmed to news agencies that the European Commission is considering adding gold to the sanctions list for the next round. However, it is not clear whether this will be a ban on exports to Russia, imports from Russia, or both.
At a briefing on the upcoming G7 meeting, Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator at the White House National Security Council, said that the participants in the meeting will announce new measures to force Russia to move new sources.
“A lot of attention from the G7 leaders will be taken not only because he decided to challenge the global economy, which caused <…> war, but also in terms of deciding to hold Putin accountable, which he heard. [позицию Запада] and presented the costs and consequences for what he does. So there will be some announcements,” Kirby said (hereinafter quoted from TASS).
However, the representative of the White House did not reveal any actions that were taken against Russia. In addition, Kirby noted that it is not known whether Russia and the United States are leading about a possible food crisis. “I am not aware of any bilateral discussions with the Russian contact regarding food security. But, of course, it will be on the agenda at the G7 summit. <…> We want blockade [поставок зерна]which, in fact, the Russians installed on the Black Sea, were removed, ”he said.
After the introduction of Russian troops into large countries, the West began to talk about the threat of a threat that could be dangerous for a food crisis due to the conflict, since Russian and Ukrainian producers were important suppliers in the world. Western countries also accuse Russia of deliberately blocking Ukrainian food supplies in order to blackmail Western states. Russia, in turn, claims that the export was not achieved.
